The Legacy of Twelve ColoniesPosted: March 22, 2009
Yesterday, I watched the final episode of Battlestar Galactica series. I was amazed. I was shocked. I was thrilled. I definitelly enjoyed it even though the word “final” means there will be no Battlestar Galactica episode aired next week — and possibly never. I enjoyed it even though many BSG fans do not agree with how it ended. I enjoyed it even though it contained many meta-physical aspects that were not expected. And now I feel this kind of sadness I experienced after I finished watching Twin Peaks.
All this thanks to what Battlestar Galactica series were able to achieve during the years of its existence: creating a space for non-trivial discussions about humanity — its future, its nature and nature of us as individuals. Full of rich characters and strong personalities. Mirror of our civilization. No unrealistic and funny entertainment for male teenagers. This is a brilliant and though-proviking peace of art.
I just wanted to say, Battlestar Galactica, I will miss you.
So say we all.
